So this morning after I finished washing my car I decided to try out my new Shield DAS6 polisher and attempt to do some paint correction. After about a week and a half of reading up on the subject I though it would be a good idea to put the things I have read to the test. My mission was basically to remove the swirl marks and light scratches that my car has on the bonnet.
I started with washing the car with Megs GC wash, next I clayed the bonnet with Megs clay (the clay found in the smooth surface clay kit), after this I started with the DA. I used the Shield cutting compound which came with the polisher since I don't have anything else, two passes on speed setting 5 and then one last pass on setting 3 with the yellow polishing pad. Then I wiped all residue and dust off with a microfibre cloth. Finally I applied Megs NXT tech wax 2.0 by hand and buffed afterwards with the black finishing pad on speed setting 3 with two passes.
Here is the results, I think it came out better than expected, quite surprised how well the paint is looking now, sorry no before pics:
(Oh and yes I love Megs products and yes I know its not the best and no I don't care )
Reflection shots:
Up close and personal:
A quick video I also took:
