Ok for those of you who were enquiring about the Brinkmann's (Calypso, etc) I managed to get some shipping quotes from Brinkmann themselves.

They can ship 5 Brinkmann MaxFire Dual Xenon's to us for around $50 bringing the price per unit to $39.95 give or take. At the current exchange rate and factoring in VAT and duties they going to cost around R400-R450 landed here in SA.

Only hassle is the recharging adapter is 110V and there is no 220V version. It does however come with a cigarette lighter charger and Pick n Pay sells universal dc adapters that I am sure would work Hammerhead

Once again if you interested add your name to the list, there is no minimum qty on these but naturally the more we buy the cheaper the combined shipping will be Wink

That's not a bad price hey... Bluebiggrin Mmm...I'm supposed to be spending my money on other products for my "kit". Sad Cought between a rock & a hard place... Sad

1 please
Ah.......I'm trying to keep this out of my mind, but I can't. LOL. I'm supposed to be building up other sections of my detailing "kit". Bluebiggrin All these awesome GB's at the wrong time. Tongue Let me see what I can do!
David - I would like to get one, but it depends on the timing (for budgeting purposes). When do you anticipate placing an order?
Count me in Dave
I am wanting to get them in by month end or so Sean. That would require me placing the order towards the middle of the month or so, I am just awaiting a reply from them regarding the pricing Wink
Update : Brinkmann don't wanna budge on the retail price for only 5 units so we looking at $29.95 each for the lights and then $50 for the shipping (5 units).

At the current exchange rate (R9.2/$1) we looking at a landed price factoring in duties and VAT of between R450 and R500, a little more than initially planned but unfortunately the exchange rate has gone crazy. All those who put their names down please confirm again if you still interested so we can either put this on hold or wrap it up.

Carn - Confirmed

Since your post, the Rand has plummeted even further - last I heard this morning was R10.37/$1. With the current events, trying to budget for the Brinkmann is like trying to shoot a moving target in the dark. I'm taking a rain check this time around.
Oh frikken noes. Would the fucking American get their shit together so we can stabilize our economy. Now is a bad time, i propose a 1-2 week Rand cooldown hold. I'll buy at R8.50/1$.
Yea Woody heard on the news...... Hammerhead
I share the same sentiments, lets hold back until sanity prevails (don't know when that will be :ionoBluebiggrin

Carn, I hope this doesn't mess around with your commitments with the Americans
I think we gonna be in for the long haul, I don't see it coming back down too soon TBH Sad

I have nothing coming in from the US anytime soon, got a few goodies to get in from the UK though Hammerhead
I def want one, but not at this very time, I share in the sentiments of others here. Lets sit tight for a bit.

Hell, I'm getting more and more goods, before I've even got any good. Bawling
As most of you know by now I'm new to the detailing stuff. Why would one want to have a light like this in your kit? What make this one so good?

The light spectrum and the brightness, allows you to see the defects in the paint and hence properly correct things you might have missed before Str8pimp
