DA Polishers - ChrisL - 07-06-2011 05:22 PM

Hi Guys

I'm new to detailing, and i have been reading a lot of stuff about it. A lot of what i have read, deals with DA polishers. Can anyone tell me what DA polishers are available in SA and where one may get them. Also which ones are decent, and which ones to stay away from.

Thanks

Hello an welcome

Some that I know( -- and where to get them) of but there must be more:
Shield -- Carn
Flex -- Carn maybe
Meguiars -- CD
Makita -- A few places stocking Makita tools

Flex IMO is the Rolls Royce and as far a I know none are bad.

Hey Chris,

Locally you have quite a variety available...

Shield DAS6...Good entry level machine, comes with some pads and is reasonably priced at over R2k

Meguiars G220...Similar to the Shield, but with a marginally more powerfull motor. Roughly R2400 iirc

Flex XC3401VRG...Forced rotation DA which makes this polisher about the best DA machine money can buy. Little bit pricey at around the R4-5k mark!

I would avoid the Makita and Dewalt orbital machines as they are better suited to sanding than polishing. If you need more info or some prices (with/without extra pads, polishes, etc) then drop me a pm and will sort you out Thumb
