Honda S2k - Starvekos - 07-09-2008 09:26 PM I got a chance to detail a black Honda S2000 over the weekend. The car contained a number of paint defects namely swirls from poor wash technique and scratches that may require a visit to a panel shop. None the less, I offered the owner to remove some of the light swirls. I used the following products Mags Meguiars Wheel Brightener Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner (APC) Mothers fender brush Meguiars Versa Angle Tire brush MotoQuip mag face brush Sonax long handle brush Wash and dry Meguiars Shampoo Plus Meguiars Microfiber mitt Meguiars Water Magnet 5 Ltr bucket X2 Correction Makita BO6040 sander Meguiars W8006 yellow polish pad X2 Meguiars #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish (DACP) Meguiars #81 Hand Polish Protection Meguiar #26 Hi Tech Yellow wax NXT Metal Polysh Meguiars CleanerWax (paste) Dressing Meguiars Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel Meguiars Hyper Dressing Meguiars Quik interior detailer Meguiars side lock brush Process Started off with mags and door jambs. The fender brush was recommended by Pravin at CD and served me well in the tight wheel wells. Door jambs were treated with APC and agitated using the Sonax long handle brush. I love this brush so much, I bought two. The car was presoaked with Shampoo Plus using the Karcher foam dispenser. Calypso advised me to move quickly otherwise the foam would run out before I cover the whole car. Not really shaving foam quality but I think it managed to shift enough grime before rinsing and using the two bucket method. Paint was smooth so I didn’t clay the car after washing. This was my first outing with the blue painter’s tape, have a look at the novice tapping. Dreadful! I paid for it the in the end where I spent a couple of minutes with a quick detailer and microfiber cloth in an attempt to remove tape residue. #83 DACP was drying quickly so I spritzed water on panels while I was working to try to extend the buffing time on each application. I also cleaned the pads, using a tooth brush and shampoo solution, after each panel cause the pad was getting clogged up. #81 Hand Polish was dripping wet similar to baby oil probably due to the heat. It was also creating smudges on panels that were exposed to the sun. So, we had to reposition the car to get all the panels under the carport shade. #26 was left to dry for about 20 minutes while I dressed wheel wells with Hyper dressing, sealed mags with Cleaner Wax and coated exhaust pipes with Metal Polysh. Interior and drop top compartment were covered in dust, I told the owner that the quik interior detailer would not shift enough dirt and that we would need another session just for the interior. That being said, the car did spend a bit of time in the sun while washing so that could have changed the dynamics. @ Grant. I use the CleanerWax for sealing mags and door jambs.
