BMW 528i restoration
As some of you may already know, I have been looking for a E34 (1989-1995) 5 series BMW for a while, last week Thursday I spotted a E39 (1996 - 2002) 528i on the Gum, and went to have a look.
It was out of my budget but I can tell good value for money when I see it. So a friend of mine and I purchased the car together, and are going to sort all the little niggly bits out and re-sell it as immaculate Few stats on the car: 98 model E39 528i 215k on the clock Full service history We are the 2nd owners So there are a few things which need attention, luckily nothing that cant be handled as a DIY, slight bit of body work or some SERIOUS cleaning! 1st on the list was the broken cup holders, front and rear. rear out, found that the spring is missing and one of the mechanisms. hole where it came from front out, one of the little plastic hooks broken, need to find a replacement hole where it came from I managed to find one today at a scrap yard that had the opposite side broken, so built one functional piece out of the 2 next up was the rear driver side window. Apparently only the cable for the mechanism was broken.... WELLLL..... had to take the panel off to inspect and fix. This is what we found when we opened the door panel up not only where all the nylon runners completely wrecked, but the complete electric motor was missing So this posed a slight problem! So after a couple calls I managed to find the complete mechanism including motor today, its already installed and works like a bomb. All that remains is to refit the door panel, but I'll do that this eve Here a few pics I took of the car in the garage, not great but just for you to get the idea of what she looks like Next on the list is a little body work before the big detail, looks like she was reversed against a gate or something Thanks for looking, more to follow shortly freerider AKA don |

It looks almost like the cable hopped off the runner and instead of just opening up the door, the owner just tried to move the window up and down until it completely stuffed up everything. freerider AKA don |
