Alfa Romeo Concourse de Elegance
Last Sunday, the Cape Alfa Romeo Club held their annual Concourse de Elegance at the Jordan Wine Estate near Stellembosch.
I hadn't plannned to enter because 1. I was not a member of the CARC 2. I have been hectically busy at work 3. It rained on and off on Friday and Saturday making it impossible for me to do any work on my car. One of the members Steven has been hakking me to join the club and enter my car and I have always wanted to enter a Concourse so I thought "what the hell", got up early on Sunday morning and did the following: 1. Washed and brushed the wheels inside and out with wheel brush 2. Washed the car as usual with Megs Gold Class using wash mitt and dried with water magnet. 3. Vacumned the interior and wiped down with 303 and a MF cloth. 4. Did nothing to the tyres!! 5. Wiped down the engine with 303 and gave the chrome a very (and I mean very) quick polish with NXT Metal Polish. 6. I was about to leave and I decided to give the paintwork a quick application of P21S - one coat applied with a foam applicator and buffed off with a MF by hand. Started at 06h30 - left home at 10h00. Got to Jordan. Any last minute thoughts of just wandering around and checking out the cars were dashed as I was literally dragged into the judging area, filled in forms, joined the club, paid my fees and spent a very enjoyable day under the trees, talking to all the Alfisti while the judges did their thing. Come prize giving and imagine my surprise when I was awarded FIRST PRIZE in the Modern Show Car Class. I was actually supposed to have been entered in the "Commuter Car Class" but apparantly my car was so clean that they could not believe that it was a daily drive. The overall winner in the "Concourse Show Car Class" was an immaculate modified GTV belonging to Rush (Rashied) of the famous Alfa owning family in Cape Town. A worthy winner. I didn't take a lot of pics as the cars were under dappled light from the trees but I will try and post some separately. Great bunch of friendly guys and I will be attending their monthly meetings from now on. |

Congratulations Alistair on what I am sure was a well deserved win
Your car is always spotless so it comes as little surprise that you would have made off at least some prizes David : 083 642 2118 www.mobileimage.co.za |

RE: Alfa Romeo Concourse de Elegance
Congratulations Springbok - as Starvekos has said, it comes as no surprise to us as we know that you keep your car in tip top shape.
I must however also be a killjoy, and say that I am disappointed in you for 2 reasons: 1. No photos! 2. No entry into the Waxon Tri-monthly detailing competition. |

RE: Alfa Romeo Concourse de Elegance
The thing is guys, you've all seen my car so many times that I wanted to show you other pics. I didn't take any of mine but here are the only two which Stephen took on the day:
