Removing tree sap stain?
Last night I noticed 3 very small brown drops on the car that must have happened yesterday morning, cos I washed the car the previous evening.

I first used some Adams QD on an MF cloth, which took off the surface drops. Then I saw the stain and I tried a few things:
  • I applied some Meg's Bug & Tar according to the instructions. No joy, so I tried a second application and still the yellow spot remained stubbornly
  • Next I did some Googling and saw a suggestion for a thin paste of baking Soda + water. Still no joy, although I was too careful to leave it sitting for longer than 2 or 3 minutes
  • Not being willing to go any more aggressive, I worked in some AG SRP and left it for 15 min before buffing off and putting on a layer of Meg's DC Carnauba Wax. Naturally, I was planning to wax next weekend, 4 weeks after the last treatment. Murphy!

The dot is still sitting there and on the bright silver paint and it's probably easier to notice than on most other colours

Advice or suggestions welcomed

I'll have to take one later, when I'm back home as it was nearly dark when I cleaned the droplets yesterday

Have you tried clay?

Nope, but it seems that this will be my next attempt. Thanks

Seeing that I applied a coat of SRP + Wax, will I need to take any special cleaning steps? I was thinking along the lines of washing just the boot lid with a stronger mix of shampoo, then claying, polishing and waxing

RE: Removing tree sap stain?
Depending on the actual contents of the drops it may be staining which in all likelihood claying won't remove.

Best would be to see some pics and then we can give some further advice...
