MINI 1.6 Base Chilli Red
Morning guys

Last week I had the joy of working on a MINI fresh from the hands of the local butchers. Now I would absolutely love to know how this bonnet got like this on this car.

I arrived and got to work straight away. The car was already clean to my standards and being brand new this wouldnt have taken much work to get up to Accelerate standards.

Here is a before picture. Notice how dull that red seems? I admit this was taken inside and the quality was not exceptional.

And the lovely fresh paint:

And then MINI and polish met:

And after some lovely Gold Class Wax, trim detailer and a couple of Kamikaze birds I give you:

There we are. Short, sweet and very very pretty.

For more info on the car please call Nathan at Auto Atlantic and mention my name.

Thanks for reading!

Mike

Hey Onyx

Yes... Brand spanking new. Delivered only a few days before Nathan called me.

I do not like to talk about opposition but I refer to the wash bay at BMW as the local butchers as frankly they do so much damage to these cars. That said I cannot justify my statement as neither Nathan or I can detect at which point the damage occurs between factory to showroom.

Either way this is a weekly occurrence. I have another car booked Tuesday which although used has already had a bonnet resprayed... Madness but its the cost the dealer takes on to sell the car.

Thanks.

Doing a dark blue Cooper tomorrow for them. Nathan reckons the damage is even worse.

Wish me luck!

P.S - Did I mention the above was all done by hand?!

Nice work Mike.

What are you using for the correction step?

RE: MINI 1.6 Base Chilli Red
Hey Woodie

For this car I used Megs Ultimate Compound. *Watches you faint*

I find that by hand you can get rather average correction. I applied almost 5 layers of that via microfibre using a lot of pressure and language.

Followed by 2 layers of Megs Gold Class *Watches you walk into a door* which as you will no doubt know contains fillers.

Mix that combo and you get almost 95% correction. Just remember this is a new car and the scratching wasnt deep but more surface.

Thanks guys!
