the runx did not imho had the looks for the image wanted to create. To compete with something like GTI you must be good in every aspect.

The old Conquest RSI (1.6 16v) was a terrific little car that gave most VW's of the same era a very good run for their money performace wise. Later RSI versions have been nothing more than simply badge jobs IMO, much like VW lost the plot with the GTI's in the Mk III range
